Life's Most Important Lessons

An Owner's Manual for the Only Life We Have

Learn to Love...

Break out of your shell, transcend yourself, and passionately embrace

What is really most important in life.

Learn to have...

A healthy self-respect and learn to respect others.

Learn to overcome...

The temptation to seize power for its own sake,

To abuse power, or to use power only for your own benefit.

Learn to...

Regularly rest and reflect;

Take time to discover the good in life

And let yourself deeply appreciate your discoveries.

Learn to remember...

Your roots; recognize and esteem your significant elders

Who have given you life and direction.

Learn Justice...

Justice is not Law.

Justice is the recognition that whatever we do has consequences

(both for ourselves and those around us),

And that we are responsible

(both to ourselves and to others)

For the consequences of what we do.

Learn to overcome...

The temptation to become a terrorist or a hooligan;

Hostage taking, extortion, or other forms of violence against

Others is always the last and worst resort.

Political, economic, or personal circumstances are almost never sufficient cause.

Learn Honesty...

On one hand, honesty is a healthy sense of what is real and true;

On the other hand, honesty is assuring

Consistency between word and deed.

Learn to be...

Responsible in expressions of your sexuality

And to respect the sexual relationships of others.

Learn to overcome...

The seductiveness of greed; no human being really needs "To have it all,"

And there really is enough of everything

To go around if we share.

The temptations to "buy everything" or to steal something

Are most often symptoms

Of an unhealthy reality or an insecure self.
