A Checklist of things that will almost guarentee failure in church
leadership
-
Don't pray about anything ... if you pray, it might mean you
would find out more about the situation or yourself than you want
to know, and you might find out what God really wants you to do
-
Don't ever listen to God or anybody ... always be so intent on talking either
to or about God, that you neither offer the opportunity for others to express
themselves, nor do you give youself the opportunity to ever pay heed to what
they say either through their words or actions
-
Don't, at the very least, tithe your income ... that way you will show people
that you don't believe God has provided enough to meet the needs of either
you or anyone else
-
Don't call people to active discipleship ... let them be spectators to the
miracle of the Kingdom of God
-
Don't delegate anything ... make sure that you do everything all by yourself
(then you can be totally stressed out, feel over-whelmed and sorry for yourself,
as well as avoid teaching others how to be the Church in any practical sort
of way)
-
Refuse to read the Holy Scriptures all the way through at least once or more
... it's best to only read the parts that support your preconceived notions
-
Refuse to embrace any model of leadership other than that of "Sphincter
School of Management and Administration" ... stop everyone from
doing anything unless you know about it and approve it
-
Refuse to learn anything about group process and community building
-
Refuse to learn anything about systems theory or appreciative inquiry
-
Refuse to learn anything about the fundamentals of education, in general,
and adult education in particular
