The Gospel Jesus Lived

©Wm. Michael Clemmer

Jesus lived out certain basic assumptions in all that he did and said.

Those basic assumptions are truly his Gospel.

Those assumptions are:

Generosity, reliablity, and compassion characterize God's core nature and being.
God is not some depraved, capricious, and character disordered cosmic despot or terrorist.

* * * * *

The fundamental relationship among all living beings (the glue that holds every thing together)
is an expansive, relentless and self-transcending Love that is willing
to sacrifice for the true benefit of others.

* * * * *

There is always enough of everything (food, clothing, shelter, love, mercy, healing, ad infinitum)
to go around and to meet everyone's needs. There is enough so that no one has to worry.
There is enough for everyone to be generous, to share, to be forgiving, to be compassionate
and to be helpful. There is enough so that no one has to be afraid, greedy, miserly or jealous.

There are consequences to what we do (to everything that we do!), whether we allow
ourselves to see those consequences or not.
Specifically and ultimately,
God will treat us exactly
the way that we, ourselves, have treated others.

It is always possible to start over and change the direction of one's life.
At any moment, a person can be born again, beginning a new life without the baggage of the old one.
At any moment, a person can turn around and head toward the loving embrace of God.
